Pours a hefty near-opaque brown with a large beige head that collapses after a moment. Aroma is mostly dusty, papery, with just a touch of dates, that’s all. Flavor is indeed porterish with a good helping of generic dark malts, very easy on the hop level. A black olive flavor comes and goes. Nothing really stands out in the flavor, just very pleasant from start to finish. The mouthfeel is the highlight here; creamy and heavy, lingering aftertaste. Sort of a porter/Belgian hybrid here; a Belgian Porter if I may. I should have this again sometime. Overall, very good minus. Taverner (837), San Ramon, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 10, 2009 This is a beautiful beer - appearance-wise. Pours a rubyish-brown clear with tan head from ceramic bottle. Aroma is must and dark fruit. Flavor is sweet, finishing dry, with not much flavor body or anything. Strange - because the lead-up on this one was strong. SSSteve (2062), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2009 Hoogstraten bottle from the Saucer. Tasted a lot like the Flensburger beers, but good instead of awful. Bad ass stone bottle. ChainGangGuy (2556), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jul 21, 2009 Appearance: Pours out a hazed, deep, dark amber body with a wispy, whitish head.
Smell: Sweetish, fairly fruity nose with notes of raisins and dried apricots at the fore with toasted malts and standard sugar in the back.
Taste: Toasty, faintly nutty malts with a solid bump of candyish sweetness. As is the case with the nose, it’s quite fruity. Essentially no hop character or bitterness. Vaguely sweetish and fruity on the otherwise hohum finish. It’s sweet and then it’s gone.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.
Drinkability: Entirely unimpressive and not a beer I could honestly recommend; it’s one of those beers that were it not for these notes, I would have absolutely no memory of this thing. TheCaptain (549), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA

Dark ruddy brown pour with a thin off white head. Light on the nose with some spice and earthy wheat blending into the pallet, malts and bread. A slight roast with some bitterness towards the end. Decent drinker. Butters (1646), Virginia, USA
