Pours with a four finger light tan head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Almost black hints of mahogany highlights. The nose is roasted coffee. Light carbonation and medium body. Flavor is roasted coffee with some hoppiness. $1.50 for 12oz bottle from Capitol Convenience, Concord, NH. Label is Hook & Ladder Brewing - contract brewed by Mercury.

12 oz bottle. Clear dark brown pour with a thick white head. Generic brown ale aroma. Sweet with some chocolate malt. Not a very strong flavor. Nutty with a bitter, milky finish. Very smooth and easy to drink.

Very crisp and refreshing on the palate. A light hoppiness from the cascade hops is very smooth. The flavor is close to a smoked root-beer. I tasted this beer today in a liquor store and was immediately sold.

Pours brown with a medium sized head. Aroma is malt, some nut and caramel. Mouth feel is a bit thin in body with a good amount of carbonation. Flavor starts with a hop bite, but quickly changes to sweet caramel and nut flavors. A very easy drinker, just not a WOW beer.

On draft at the Firehouse Lounge in Pittsburgh, PA.

Dark brown caramel, off white head. Aroma is malt, roasted nuts, bitter hops. Flavor is bitter walnuts (hops?), malt and on the watery side. I kind of like it because it’s a bit quirky in a way that appeals to me. I guess it’s that bitter thing. I like bitter.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a fizzy beige head. Sweet aroma with notes of caramel and brown sugar. Medium body. Flavor is sweet caramel and sugar, a bit nutty, with noticeable hops. Unfortunately, the finish is a bit metallic. Not an awful beer, but not that good.

75 characters is a lot for this beer. Good head and lacing. The flavor is of dark malt dryness. Nice in that this isn’t cloying, but I can’t say it is memorable.

Dark color, little to no head. Very spicy aroma with faint fruits. Great nose. Complex flavor, I would describe it as a "roller coaster"...flattens out but then comes back and ends with hops. Very consistent. This beer was a pleasure to drink!
