Derek881 (486), Frederick, Maryland, USA Oct 15, 2009 I poured this beer in to a pint glass to drink. It had a dark amber color with a big creamy tan head that had good cling and average retention. The aroma featured caramel malt and some earthy and grainy hops. The taste was sweet and malty with some light bitterness too. The beer was wet and a bit creamy with low carbonation, and fairly smooth and thin. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Oct 14, 2009 Pours copper with a tan head. Smells fruity and caramelly. Tastes of caramel, some earthy hints, some light fruit. jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Aug 31, 2009 Copper in color, fairly earthy on the nose. Surprising bitterness and lots of sharp, grassy, hopcit flavors. Malty finish is solid and gives a strong backing and a second effort to the beer. Really taste the chocolate and caramel on the finish of this blend. rocbyter (902), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Aug 27, 2009 Malt aroma with a mild amount of yeast. Clear orange color with a small white head. Odd tanginess and slightly sweet throughout. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA Aug 13, 2009 Pretty bland, unmemorable. Amber? Hardly. I wouldn’t get this one, because you will die if you do. Hey, I’m just saying. MrBunn (1520), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 12, 2009 Bottle. Pours a coppery brown with a couple of fingers of frothy head and aromas of chestnuts and earth/wood. Flavor is not very good. There is a slight sourness that makes me wonder about possible infection, especially since this is a new arrival at the bottle shop that only keeps their stuff cold. Looking past that, there is a very nice malt and earth flavoring, but the sour edge gets in the way of enjoyment. TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA Jun 3, 2009 Draft at Beer Bourbon and BBQ Festival in Richmond VA on 5-30-09. Amber pour. Mostly grainy aroma with caramel, sweet malt and some grassy notes. Taste is chewy malt, sourdough bread, grassy notes, caramel, and light hops. Body is medium with crisp carbonation. Ends with more caramel, sweet malt, grassy notes, light fruit and light hops. rampmaster (314), Alden, New York, USA May 10, 2009 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: It had a light white color head that quickly faded out leaving no lacing behind. Its body was a deep amber color with very good clarity.
Smell: The aroma had a light sweet malty character with just a hint of hops coming through.
Taste/Mouth feel: Its flavor was much the same as its aroma with a big malty body and some mild hops. Its texture is smooth with light carbonation, a medium body and a sweetish finish.
Notes: Overall it’s not bad at all but it’s also not a standout either.
