| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 18, 2009 Pour is tawny with a light tan head. Malt hits the nose first followed by a hint of caramel. Mouthfeel is soft but not as creamy as other craft brews. Taste is mild with flavors of malt and caramel with a light hop finish. A good effort but this ember needs to be fanned to reach the upper tiers of its competitors. Pairs well with pretzel or beer nuts. Elwood (684), Leesburg, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 23, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear amber brown. Sizeable creamy off white head. Roasted malt, caramel, and something I can’t quite place in the background. Grass? Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel. Has a good roasted character to it with caramel, nut, and just a hint of bitterness on the palate. It goes down smooth with a hint of roasted malt left behind. Very drinkable and pretty good, but it makes me want to give their brown ale a try! Gypsy19 (662), California, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Mar 14, 2009 Pours an amber brown with a medium head. Aroma is weakly of hops and fruit. Flavor is faintly of leather, smoke, honey, and just a pinch of fruit. The flavor is not at all sweet. Something about this beer just doesn’t cut it for me. I think because it wants to be a bigger, but just ends up being wimpy in the end. Still not bad, ultimately, and worth a rate. Just forgettable, that’s all. Overall, good minus. dp (512), uniontown, Ohio, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 28, 2009 Poured a brownish-orange, doesn’t look amber, or like a black and tan. Medium foamy white head. Aroma is malty, slightly sweet, some notes of caramel. Flavor is mainly of toasted malts with some creaminess and some sweetness. Maybe some nutty notes? Wheat in the aftertaste. Very smooth and crisp overall. Pretty good!
