Slightly murky brown-amber color, not quite as dark as expected, but I suppose it is mostly the golden ale. Mellow sweet dark malt aroma. Medium bodied and very smooth, this is a really good Black and Tan. Not unlike Mississippi Mud, with smiliar sandy chocolate finishes. Surprisingly well done. rampmaster (322), Alden, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 10, 2009 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: It had a light white color head that quickly faded out leaving no lacing behind. Its body was a deep amber color with very good clarity.
Smell: The aroma had a light sweet malty character with just a hint of hops coming through.
Taste/Mouth feel: Its flavor was much the same as its aroma with a big malty body and some mild hops. Its texture is smooth with light carbonation, a medium body and a sweetish finish.
Notes: Overall it’s not bad at all but it’s also not a standout either.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 23, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear amber brown. Sizeable creamy off white head. Roasted malt, caramel, and something I can’t quite place in the background. Grass? Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel. Has a good roasted character to it with caramel, nut, and just a hint of bitterness on the palate. It goes down smooth with a hint of roasted malt left behind. Very drinkable and pretty good, but it makes me want to give their brown ale a try! LtJudge (432), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 1, 2009 Clear bronze appearance with a large, off white head and decent lacing. Caramel malt aroma with a faint note of chocolate early on. Bready malts dominate the taste, maybe some soft fruit if you dig deep enough. Gently hopped, moderately carbonated, medium bodied mouthfeel leading to a short lived finish. A session beer best enjoyed locally and as fresh as possible. jefcon (1005), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 31, 2009 Copper in color, fairly earthy on the nose. Surprising bitterness and lots of sharp, grassy, hopcit flavors. Malty finish is solid and gives a strong backing and a second effort to the beer. Really taste the chocolate and caramel on the finish of this blend. mrant (330), New York, USA
