Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - March & April.
A premium dark red beer, based on the recipe used for the 150th celebration brew. Copper has a strong dry palate with an unusual 'old fasioned' aftertaste. Copper is brewed with Maris Otter malt, flavoured with proportions of aromatic and brown malt, creating a highly distinctive character. Fuggles, challenger and Goldings whole hops are used, and the beer is both late hopped in the copper and dry hopped in the cask.

Cask handpull at The Pear Tree, Hook Norton and The Reindeer, Banbury. Same biscuit and honey malt fullness as the Old Hooky; hints of pear and apple but with an added dimension of beansprout, walnut, chocolate and earth lurking beneath. Full, complex, hugely drinkable... Leafy citrus hints as from the Willamette I’ve been nibbling of late, especially on the burp. Drawn-out, nutty malt afters. Easy drinking and layered with malt and fruit depth. Tasty.

Cask Handpump at the Elihu Yale JDW, Wrexham 19/09/2009 Some fruit aroma. Large white head. Copper coloured smooth a little rich on the palate and fruity with a crisp and slightly bitter malt finish.

Draught at JDW. Hazy golden brown with loose persistent head. Little aroma: malty with a hint of biscuits. Light body and carbpnation. Malty flavour with other with complex notes including chalky. Nice easy drinking beer

Cask-conditioned at the JDW on Whitehall 23/09/09. Copper coloured with a decent, off-white head. Sweetish, malty aroma with a touch of the hedgerow. Flavour was also malty, with some earthiness and a decent bitter finish. Good.

Tasting notes from Hook Norton Brewery and Banbury beer festival. Copper-Amber with thin head. Caramel, fruit, and balancing hops in the finish. Dry bitter finish.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Bright gold-amber with a small head. Fruity aroma and a beautiful pear-like taste, sweet and spicy. Plenty of malt. Mid to low bitterness. Delightful.
