Commercial Description:
Bottled, Pasteurised;
The Cotswolds Conservation Board is celebrating 40 years of protected status for the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). And Hook Norton has joined in the celebrations with a new brew Cotswold Lion, at 4.2 per cent ABV, to mark the occasion, and 5p from every pint sold is being donated to the Cotswolds Conservation Board. The beer is a pale, fruity ale, brewed with Maris Otter malt and hopped with Fuggles. Brewer James Clarke said: “This is the first time we have brewed a single varietal beer.” Over the past four decades AONB designation has meant that the Cotswolds has been conserved and enhanced and that any change has, where possible, been in keeping with the distinctive nature of the area. HRH, The Prince of Wales who lives in the AONB has praised the work that has been done to conserve the Cotswolds over the past four decades and has said that he hopes that the Cotswolds Conservation Board will continue its work for countless years to come.

Bottle. Poured flat.Impressive citrus taste that adds to rather than distracts from the bitterness.Pleasant inviting aroma and a crisp refreshing taste.

Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml. Light yellow gold with bubbly white head. Delicatle light biscuity malt base, quite dry throughout with a big sprinkling of lemony, dry, oily green hops. Long bitter finish with a good freshness. The pasteurisation is sympathetic and light. A very decent bottled beer.

Clear golden body, white head, fine lacing; Very beautiful nose, a mix of rye biscuits, flowers and pine; Soft textured body, with some soft carbonation, balanced and quite bitter; Very long finish with lots of aromas that are very similar to the nose. Great beer, the best I have had from Hook Norton.

Bottle. Golden beer with a strong white head. The aroma is very floral and dry, and the flavour is smoothly mildly hopped. Overall a nice smooth drinkable golden ale.

Bottle picked up at SH Jones in Bicester 16-09-06. Golden beer with white frothy head, citrusy nose with hops also some citrus and fruitiness in the taste which in fact is very good in this bottle form, plenty of flavour and nice well balanced bitterness, very moreish.
