Commercial Description:
Bottled; Pasteurised.
Pale, delicately fruity and refreshing. Hooky Gold is a beer which marries English tradition with American pizzazz. It is the first of our beers to use an American hop variety, Willamette, grown in Oregon, and having moderate bitterness with a spicy, noble hop aroma.

Nice bright gold, short-lived cap of white. Dried apricots, spicy, a little bit of something sort of buttery.Tart fruity sweetness. Just a little vegital in the finish. This is just one a few bottles of this picked up from Hook Norton. Lots of variation between them. Some perfectly clean, others with significant oxidation. This bottle was somewhere in the middle flaw-wise, so probably a good representative sample. It’s really too bad: there is clearly a lack of quality control somewhere in the bottling process. Which in the case of Hook Norton, is not in their control. Maybe it should be. Picked up at the brewery, there is no reason for a brewer to sell their beer less than clean.

Clear golden body with a white head; Small but very nice nose, balanced mix of hop and malt, with very fine oine aromas behind; Fine sparkle in a slight bitter balanced body; Long finish with notes of pine, apple, malt, bitter, balanced and well made.

500ml bottle. Golden straw colored beer, a little hazy. Creamy and smooth while retaining an earthy, mildly spicy, hop character. Fruity yeast esters and a light touch of golden honey make this one a perfect English session beer. Excellent stuff.

Crushed with Jakebra. Aroma of sweet, kinda lemon aroma with lots of poop. Flavor is a little better, and it’s pretty smooth even with the poop. An above average golden, but that’s not saying too much for me.

White head on a golden body. A good lager, rather hoppy, which is good. A pleasant experience.
