Tasted 18/12/2006 (in lieu of an 1812). 500ml bottle from RW&S, Wellington. Deep copper, pretty bright, off-white head. Toffee, golding fruit notes and subtle esters on the nose. Solid through the mouth - nice toasty crystal flavour, quite fresh - with a good medium bitterness in the end and some more caramel notes on the palate. Good, well-travelled and very very English.

Bottle. Pours golden amber with a off-white/yellow head. Dryish hoppy aroma with sweetish malty notes. Sweetish malty flavour with notes of hops. Fruity notes develops as it warms. Bitter finish with a sourish touch and dry notes. Slight notes of apple. A bit thin. Slightly oily palate. 30-11-06.

From bottle. Sweet sticky honey aroma. Great clear copper appearance with a thin head. Slight tang, orange taste, but a little sickly. Metallic after taste, but just a hint. Good beer but not for me.

(0,5l bottle) Pours with a huge white head. Looks strangly close to a dunkelweiss! Great aroma. Grapefruit, rhubarb, toffee. Taste a bit... old? Fruity but dusty. A beer of high quality, but not really in my f(l)avour.

Clear maroon brown with a thin white. Unspectacle. Fruity, lifted nose, very clean malts and estery notes. Slips a gear to taste. Some ok bitterness comes through but the fruit and malts evident on the nose don’t deliver in any way. A fraction metallic and frankly quite boring.
