Deep copper, pretty bright, off-white head. Toffee, golding fruit notes and subtle esters on the nose. Solid through the mouth - nice toasty crystal flavour, quite fresh - with a good medium bitterness in the end and some more caramel notes on the palate. Good, well-travelled and very very English. pivnizub (5089), Bochum, Porúří, Germany

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 2, 2005 There is little aroma, but what is there is mainly malt. Taste is smooth, particularly noticably smooth, malty, maybe a little fruity/honey taste and slightly hoppy finish, but not too dry. We’ve never had this in the spoon before and was nice to try something different. Pleasently suprised. dj (422), Gloucestershire, England
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 8, 2006 Bottle, 500ml. An amber colour with an average lasting head. Aromas of cirtus, malt and blackberry. Quite sweet taste with hints of caramel and dark fruits. A slightly malty, fruity finish. Full bodied, somewhat syrupy. Average carbonation. Disappointing. brettly (2), Ashburton, Australia does not count | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 12, 2006 Finally I found Hook Norton and I must say it was a little disappointing. I think the trip fom the Old Dart hasn’t done it any favours. Whilst the beer is still well before the Best Before it really does seem quite subdued. Little on the nose, a slight hint of medium crystal.Hop presence barley there. The palate is harsh and hollow with little length which is a shame as I was expecting a really malty mid palate. Nice bittering to finish. cluny6 (115), Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 30, 2008 Pours a lovely copper with a inch worth of creamy foam. Aroma is fruity esters, sweet caramel malt and light hop. Flavor is initially faintly bitter that yields to ample fruity notes, sweet malt, caramel & toffee. Finishes fairly clean. Moderate body and overall a pleasant & balanced brew.
