lululegrand (90), gent, Belgium May 28, 2005 Warm-yellow color with fluffy foam. Some sweet accents in the nose and touches of fruits, nuts and herbs. Taste is smooth, round and has a refreshing slight sour accent. it end with a well balanced hoppy bitter accent.
jerohen (1508), Bussum, Netherlands Jan 5, 2009 Horizontal tasting Bruges (Brugge Tripel) vs. Ghent (Gentse Tripel). Bottled (thanks mom), BB 09-07-2005, sampled 05-01-2009 (about 6 years old). Huge lasting head, lots of carbonation, orange/golden coloured, beautiful appearance. Fruity nose, citrus, orange, some yeast. Initially sweet flavour, fruit, spices. Pleasant dry finish. I have no idea what a fresh samplewould taste like, but this is quite ok. Ghent obviously wins. Travlr (427), Washington, Washington DC, USA Dec 10, 2008 Pale yellow urine colored. A bit thin, but reasonably balanced hops and spice. Aroma a bit too heavy on the alcohol. OK. BoBoChamp (865), Gent, Belgium Aug 23, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, not complex, balanced, hazy, rocky head, nice brew Bullit (687), Glasgow, Scotland Jul 30, 2008 Golden colour, white head. Just an average tripel, with yeast, citrus and coriander in the aroma. Taste has yeast, fruits and malts. Finishes bitter and dry. Uninteresting. imdownthepub (4311), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Jul 14, 2008 Bottle, 330ml at L’Enfant Terrible, Ghent. Hazed orange amber with white, heavily carbonated, head. This has the bonus of being quite dry for a big beer with a good hoppy presence. Quite sharp and lemony with a real bitterness. Pretty decent, but as Fin says, overcarbonated.
