Light amber, very little head. Sweet malty aroma - says Belgian, and portends well. Rich malty taste, light malts, but very emphatic. Crisp hoppy hints give it some bite. Beautifully well balanced, and there’s no way in heck that this feels like an 8%! A truly marvelous brew, one of van Steenberge’s best.
BoBoChamp (649), Gent, Belgium Aug 23, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, not complex, balanced, hazy, rocky head, nice brew Bullit (533), Zeist, Netherlands Jul 30, 2008 Golden colour, white head. Just an average tripel, with yeast, citrus and coriander in the aroma. Taste has yeast, fruits and malts. Finishes bitter and dry. Uninteresting. imdownthepub (4043), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England Jul 14, 2008 Bottle, 330ml at L’Enfant Terrible, Ghent. Hazed orange amber with white, heavily carbonated, head. This has the bonus of being quite dry for a big beer with a good hoppy presence. Quite sharp and lemony with a real bitterness. Pretty decent, but as Fin says, overcarbonated. Fin (2188), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jun 21, 2008 Bottle picked up at Westholme, Londis, Goring-on-Thames consumed 19-06-08 Pours mid gold with a lovely white head, quite bubbly and long lasting. The alcohol is a tiny bit harsh on the nose making the nasal hairs twitch and recoil ever so slightly. A solid Tripel well made and quite chewy, fresh malty with a good sprinkling of spices. I rather enjoyed this beer but after a few sips it turned into a burp fest’ such was the carbonation. Skinnyviking (2635), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 2, 2008 Bottle. Low white and quickly disappearing head. Hazy orange body. Fruity hoppy aroma with a good deal of alcohol as well. Very caromnated oranges lemon flavor. Long bitter sweet aftertaste.
