pintbypint (879), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 1, 2008 Appears to be a 500ml brown bottle. Guessing on the size as there is no label per se, just a white sticker with "Postcolonial IPA 6.5%" handwritten on it. (Hand?)Bottle from Goldorak. Head started to creep out the bottleneck immediately after uncapping. Very heady pour, 2 fingers plus worth of whitish cream, gernerous lacing on the glass. The beer itself is a hazy amber-orange. It absolutely glows when held up to the light. Hoppy aroma, a mix of oranges with grapefruit and lemon peel notes. Flavour was a bit unexpected - sweet orange hop flavours, lemon acidity, drier malts, some spiciness, earthiness, leather, finishes grapefruity. Some other raters noticed it as well (I thought I may have been imagining it), but theres some resemblance to Orval or De Ranke XX in this brew, which is a good thing in my opinion. Excellent beer. It’s beer like this that make trading so rewarding. Thanks again Goldorak.
garthicus (550), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 27, 2008 Enjoyed at Volo. Appearance - Ruby red, very little visible head. Aroma - Deep grassy aroma with barley and malt in there too, some mild lemon detected. Flavour - was bitter with malt and grass, some hints of a traditional IPA but with an underlining grassyness. mabel (1633), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 4, 2008 [1272-20080410] bottle. Evergreen pine hops aroma with bitter sweat lemon zest. Hazy, brown orange body with a long-lasting creamy white head and lattice lacing. Lightly sweaty pine hops flavour with light citrus lemon zest and lots of bitterness. Medium body is bitter. Seems a little dulled down, but still impressive.
(c/o GregClow, w/ blankboy, HogTownHarry, jerc, tupalev) tiggmtl (4181), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 11, 2008 Citrus (grapefruit, tangerine) and woody hops in the nose with a nice supporting round malt sweetness. Opaque and very hazy deep copper brown body is topped by a dense and sticky off white head that coats the sides of the glass with lace. Nice thick chewy malts are apparent and balance nicely with moderate bitterness. Citrus and biscuity flavours are lingering in the aftertaste. Round thick and full in the mouth with somewhat low gentle, soft carbonation that leaves it seeming like real ale despite being served on draught. Perhaps a touch sweet in the finish. Sampled on tap at the brewery tap room in mid-June. Taktik_MTL (1920), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada Jun 16, 2008 Cask. (Rating #1746) MaxxDaddy (208), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jun 2, 2008 Tap @ Vices et Versa. Pours hazy orange with a slight white head. Aroma of grapefruits and pine needles. Hoppy for sure. Taste is hop heavy, grapefruity and very refreshing. Good mouthfeel and finishes bitter. A very solid IPA.
