First sip is strong toasted malt with bourbon, oak, tobacco, raisins, leather, coconut and smoke. picks up hard with cocoa like baking chocolate but the slight hop finish is clean and just perfect. God I love this beer. punkrkr27 (654), Berkley, Michigan, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Inky black pour with a small, off-white head. Rich full aroma of chocolate, oats, coffee and nicely balanced bourbon. It had a hint of soy like oxidation though. The flavor is loads more rich choclate, nice strong, black coffee rounded our with some heavy char oak and bourbon. The body is full, sticky, and oily with soft carbonation. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 7, 2009 Appearance: Pours a midnight brown with a fluffy brown head that eventually subsides.
Aroma: Bourbon, vanilla, graham cracker, burnt sugar, toasted coconut and marshmallow. Not too much wood.
Taste: Tons of bourbony goodness. Roasted malt, coffee, hop spice. The after tastes lends a decent amount of wood flavor
Mouthfeel: Slightly fizzy, not as soft and creamy as most Barrel Aged Imperial Stouts.
Overall: This beer is money. Lots of bourbon notes, but not too sweet for my liking. Very big and balanced. 41cubs (149), , New Jersey, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Courtesy of CUTIGER by way of Capone’s. Aroma of vanilla extract like inaudible thunder, graham cracker, and cinnamon. When all three aroma components come together it’s like creme brulee with dark cocoa powder. Flavor is smoother, with burnt sugar and dark greens peeking out from behind a chocolate liqueur base. Finishes slightly bitter in the throat. Mouthfeel is light for the style but holds up most of the flavors well and is pretty slick on the tongue once it warms nicely. Great brew, glad to have it. Thank You Hoppin Frog. 2009 22oz. adrian910ss (1436), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma is malty with hints of chocolate and whiskey with a hint of bourbon. Taste of malts, chocolate and a whiskey-bourbon flavor. BuckeyeBoy (1696), Boise, Idaho, USA

Pours out ink black topped with a tan head. Aroma was great lots of vanilla, sweet chocolat, dark roast, and rich malts. Taste was just as nice as the aroma more of the swettness and vanilla. O so good. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Nov 30, 2009 Dark beer with faint hues of magogany when held against the light. Thin brown head. Blooming bourbon barrel nose with thick brown sugar, rich chocolate and sweet alcohol. Great oily mouthfeel. Complex and balanced flavors of bitter chocolate, sweetened coffee, molassess, vanilla and bourbon. This is an excellent barrel enhanced beer. GG (1682), NorCal, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Received via trade with daknole. Clearly a fantastic imperial stout that whomever has access to this or the non-barrell version is EXTREMELY lucky. The beer glugs out of the bottle a jet black body, zero light getting thru this one with a smaller sized dark brown head. Aroma is coffee, toffee, molassess and a nice display of bouron. Chocolate, coffee, bourbon/vanilla and some oak are all blended extremely well. Very nice, but I think I enjoyed the non-barrell aged version better.
