Black with tiny dark drown head that danced around for a couple seconds and then disappeared into the dark black abyss.
A deep, rich, roasted flavor that warms the heart like a swig of bourbon on the first day of hunting season. Definately not meant for chugging, but hey that’s what I do. Outstanding brew! joeneugs (330), Livermore, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 4, 2009 Pours black with a fast disappearing, dark brown head. Heavy aroma of dark fruit; fig, plum, alcohol, chocolate, hints of wood and roasted malt. The flavor is very thick and fruity up front with nice subtle notes of barrel, complemented by a dark, roasted quality. Smooth but very strong. A very well executed barrel aged beer. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 2, 2009 Bottle. Medium high creamy and long lasting brown head. Pitch black body. Surprisingly mild choccolate aroma with whiskey and alcohol. Flaver likewise choccolate whisky but the alcohol is very subdued and the mouthfeel is nice and creamy. Caramel and a fair amount of hops bitterness completes the taste. Low carbonation, long bittersweet aftertaste. HonkeyBra (1341), Lemont, Illinois, USA

Aroma of chocolate and soft bourbon, some roastiness and coffee, oak. Flavor is mostly oak and bourbon with a very great imp stout on top of it. Chocolate, oatmeal, coffee, etc. Mouthfeel is smooth. Loved it. ChristianScheffel (4526), Odense, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 1, 2009 Black with a lasting brown head. Aroma of oak, tannin and licorice. Sweet licorice flavour with tannins and oak notes. Felt a bit like the oak was getting in the way of the delicious boris flavour. I’d rather have the original. Schultsc (483), Henderson, Nevada, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 28, 2009 Thanks Joey and Dr. Bill. Dark black with a thin, fine, creamy mocha-colored head. Aroma is full of roasted grain, dark chocolate, booze and wood. Flavor is mellower with all of the aroma elements present but more tightly integrated with the addition of a dry oatmeal edge. Body is very delicate for the size and intensity of the beer and very smooth on the palate. curly (598), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
