Commercial Description:
Our IPA and Stout converge for a really great flavor combination to create a rich and robust black & tan. The assertive hoppy character of our Hoppin to Heaven IPA is perfectly complimented by the intense deep roasted flavor of our BORIS Oatmeal Imperial Stout. Two great tastes that taste even better together.

22oz. bottle, thanks to Gregis. Roasty aroma, plenty of caramel, citrus fruit and coffee, very faint smokiness and touches of doughy yeast that seem familiar from the bottle of BORIS I’ve had previously. Dark brown color, head is fine and sparse. Flavor is hoppy and fairly bitter, blended with a good dosage of caramel sweetness, dusty cocoa and chocolate cake, with a lightly earty touch, but overall the hop flavor is somewhat minimized. Moderately effervescent and easy-going on the palate, body is medium-full. Interesting blend, but I still preferred these as separate beers, personally.

Bottle. Pours dark brown – almost black – with a frothy beige head. Nice lacing. Chewy hop aroma. Pines. Malty sweetness in the background. Mostly the IPA part here. Flavour is sweet with chocolate and hops at first; then roasted notes and a bit of coffee kicks in, still accompanied by the hops though. Bitter liquorice finish. The stout is more present in the flavour than in the aroma, and overall the mix is very well-balanced. A fine beer. 08-10-08.

Pours dark and ruby-red; thin head. Roasty nose. Tingly and lightish texture. Somewhat drying in the finish. Starts with roasty coffee. Finishes with sweet toffee. A mild, flowery bitterness lingers on the tongue. Interesting beer, and an interesting twist … reminded me of Stone’s Eleventh Anniversary black ale (yet not as good).

500ml bottle bought at Barley Wine, Copenhagen. Smells like an IPA, looks like a stout and has the delicious taste of a stout combined with an IPA (67% IPA and 33% stout). Overall the beer is a successful synthesis of the styles. Lacing-head with a tan coloured foam. Deep, dark coloured body. Aroma of sappy fruits with piny hints, followed by a well bodied taste of chocolate malts and coffee beans, ending up with a nice hoppy, bittersweet aftertaste. Almost outstanding! (hotel room, Hotel Danmark, Copenhagen 18.09.2008).

Bottella @ Nnudds tasting. Bought @ Høkeren in Copenhagen. Black colour with red rim. Nice sticky lacing. Nice beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, fruits and hops. Good mouthfeel. Bitter roasty hoppy and fruitish well filling flavour.
