Alldaydrinker (457), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA May 26, 2008 Bomber. Poured a opaque dark brown color with a small tan head. Nose has lots of cocoa, roasted malts, piney hops and caramel. Initial taste begins with creamy cocoa that coats the mouth beautifully. Caramel is also present with roasted malts lingering in the background. Mid palate displays mild hop citrus. Finishing with continuing cocoa, coffee and malty character. Great head retention and good lacing of the glass. Palate duration is above average with a medium body. A great mix, very enjoyable.
Soonah (490), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Aug 29, 2008 From mcbackus via trade. A dark, porter-like pour with a nearly three finger tall tan head. The aroma was lots of roasted malt, floral and pine hoppiness and some light citrus. The flavor was very light chocolate, plenty of roasted malt, citrus hops and some surprisingly dominant floral hops. The mouthfeel was medium in body with a longer than expected finish. Pretty good. Skinnyviking (2624), Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 19, 2008 Bottle. High and creamy lasting light brown head. Pitch black body. Very hoppy and yet creamy coffee aroma. Powerful coffee flavor with a good deal of carbonation as well as hops bitterness. Long aftertaste. Theis (2039), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 18, 2008 Bottle - shared with Mette & Mikkel. Black - brown head. Burned, roasted, light schwartzbier-like caracters, limerial schwartzbier, high hoppy, drynes, coffee, licorice - Fantastic. Fruitfly (40), , Pennsylvania, USA Aug 12, 2008 1pt 6oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with caramel tan head. Aroma is toffee and sweet roasted carmel malts and coffee. Hops are hardly noticable over deep malts. Flavor beins surprisingly sharp as well as sweet. Not a heavy body but still substantial. Nice lightly bitter finish that tapers slowly. A good take on the idea of a stout/ bitter ale mix and I look forward to another attempt at this amalamation. pantanap (746), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 19, 2008 22oz bottle from WLV....pours a dark cola brown accompanied by a light brown head that was quick to dissipate.... aroma favored much of the oats, roastiness, and chocolate of BORIS and the hops have essentially subsided over time.... from a flavor perspective, both base beers make their presence known first with the assertive roasted flavors of the stout and then a slightly bittering hop finish from the ipa. creamy and oily mouthfeel added to the quality of this beer.... all in all, pretty nicely done.
