Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla and a hint of raspberries. The nose is strong yet smooth. Flavor is a smooth blend of roasted malt, dark chocolate, espresso, and vanilla. Velvety and quite silky with a rich nutty finish. This beer takes some of the potentially over-the-top characteristics of an imperial stout and makes them incredibly soft and smooth. A real treat.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 18, 2009 Average appearance for an Imperial. Head is very thin and doesn’t linger. Oily lacing. Taste is smooth with burnt maltiness. Palate is subtle at first with a slight hoppiness later. Taste doesn’t improve as the beer warms, instead the alcohol taste come out. A good beer but not my favorite Imperial. Aroma and after taste is the best part of this beer. Could session this beer but probably wouldn’t. Sigmund (2283), Hafrsfjord, Norway
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 15, 2009 Bottle, as Hoppin’ Frog B.O.R.I.S. The Crusher Oatmeal-Imperial Stout, ABV 9.4%, at RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg. Pitch black colour, low brown head. Surprisingly moderate aroma of oats and roasted barley, notes of mild coffee, hints of chocolate. The flavour has loads of malty sweetness, verging on sickly, and loads of roasted barley too. Notes of coffee, hints of liquorice and dark chocolate. Slightly acidic finish. Not the best impy stout I’ve had.
