Beerlando (1135), Orlando, Florida, USA May 4, 2008 Pours a very lightly hazy, dark golden-amber color. A small, frothy, beige head recedes quickly, leaving wet, sudsy lacing behind. The aroma shows ultra-sweet candied sugar, golden raisons, and a camphor-like alcohol note. The flavor is so over-the-top sweet that it is barely drinkable. Candy sugar and raisons again crush anything, with absolutely zero hint of bittering hops to be found. The addition of nutmeg and allspice is a futile attempt at adding complexity. Goes down hot and alcoholic. The body is thick, syrupy, and cloying. Two words sum this one up: "train wreck."
oteyj (234), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Jul 5, 2008 22 oz bomber poured into a trappist glass. Pours reddish amber with quickly dissapating beige head. Lively carbonation and big bubbles. Aroma is Ripe fruit, bannana, and caramel yeast. Flavor is pronounced and powerful. Sweet fruit and caramel malt meld together with a nice rich yeast presence. Hint of alcohol in the finish. Palate is thick, rich, smooth, and unbelievable refreshing and crisp. Light and refreshing for the style- believe it or not this makes for a great summer sipper. bhensonb (2687), Woodland, California, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bottle from the Beer Geek. Amber color with a minimal beige head. Roasted, but no way toasted, malt - very subtle - not raw like American reds. A little candi. Yeast spice. Smells warm when it’s cold. What a great aroma. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is mildly sweet malt, with candi notes, yeast and spice. Finishes a bit sweet, but it truly fits the style. chicagobears (312), Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA Jun 22, 2008 Golden pour with thin head. A syrupy thick beer. Has a complex flavor that reminds me of peach cobbler, banana, and honey. Sweet and spicy. dutch23mp (81), Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA Jun 22, 2008 bottle tasty beer but a little to much on the sweet side for me to give a high rating. Small head that goes away quickly. Hard to get this when you have a trappist ale in the same store. Enjoyable and give it passing but not outstanding marks joekinty (149), rockledge, Florida, USA Jun 8, 2008 sweet fruity orange belgian yeast citrus aroma copper colored pour honey tart bitter some complexities very sweet some roasty flavor hand bottle frm the man himself f karm thanks
