Commercial Description:
Rich malty flavors of caramelized and toasted grains dominate this robust Scotch ale. A hint of rye adds a crisp, scotch-like, old-world beer character, reminiscent of a simpler life from centuries ago. It’s a wee-bit heavy.

Bomber from De Molen. I have some like for this brewery as the beers were all over Copenhagen last year. Orangey amber beer with thin beige head. Malty strong syrupy aroma. Some decent orange liquer fruit aroma. Many people on this site will know that I have no idea what a Scotch ale is supposed to be, so I won’t be rating this to that style. I like it. The aroma has something not quite right, not exactly plastic, but something not quite there, maybe even some stilton cheese. In the mouth it is ok, but then in the swallow and on the finish, this beer comes alive. Great kinda marmalade sweet orange fruit. The sweetness is excellent so is the orange fruit. Lovely finish. Some hop I guess to give it a bit of sting. No alcohol heat/booziness. Maybe a bit too sweet in the mouth, but the fruit on the end is superb.

Bottle 22fl.oz.
Clear light medium red amber color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, dried fruity, candy, marzipan notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, a dry finish. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. bottle thanks to muckjoe! Pours, a murky dark red with a medium off white head. Sweet maple syrup and carmel aroma with lots of malt notes. Bold malt flavors with a peppery sweet carmel and toasted nutty character. Light spicing in the finish with som heat from the alcohol. Really nice lingering sweet finish that is hard to pin-point, close to big red soda? Maybe like a peppery almost minty sweet flavor. Either way, very nice scotch ale, I like it alot.

orange/amber pour. Aroma is sweet, some ripe banana, brown sugar, and maybe some fruit tea. Flavor is sweet. Body is very syrupy. Flavor has some banana, dark corn syrup, and fruit jelly. Ok.

Bomber. Pours cloudy amber with a half finger light tan head. The nose is dark fruit and brown sugar. The taste is candied fruits, spice, caramel and light alcohol. Medium bodied. Decent.

Pours a brownish red, very little head. The aroma is sweet, some fruits cherry. The taste is smooth, kinda apple cherry flavor. Not bad maybe some aging will bring out more flavors.

Bomber. Pours a clear, dark, burnt-orange to red amber hue. A microscopic, off-white film sits at the head, leaving virtually no lacing behind. The aroma shows lots of sugary malt and caramel, with a load of cereal grain and hints of hibiscus and bubblegum. Flavors are equally underwhelming, very grainy, gummy, and overly sugary, with no peat smoke or cocoa malt. The hop quotent shows some bitter, peppery flowers. Medium-plus bodied and sugary, the palate is well carbonated but warm and slightly acrid. Overall, it’s a pretty boring scotch ale.
