Commercial Description:
Dark, robust and silky-smooth, with many flavors of roasted, toasted and caramel malts. Porter is an old-world beer style, so popular that it helped start the industrial revolution. Taste the history.

a strong hint of dark coca and tobacco with the initial aroma. the taste is kinda thin and gives a strong bitter punch. the flavor of dark chocolate and mild grassy hops. its has its quality but serious flaws.

Large bottle. I’m pretty sure the bottle I got was damaged goods. Extremely foamy head that took a long time to subside. Taste was sweet but also had an off bready taste that I’m guessing was because it had gone bad.

22 oz bomber. Pours a dark brown/oily black pour. Aroma of bread, caramel, roasted malts and faint smoke. Medium body with the taste of toffee, caramel and roasted almonds. Nice even finish.

Bomber. Pitch black, firm tanned head. Licorice, great roasted malts, molasses and faint vanilla on the nose. Flavor nicely burned, very balanced, loads of licorice and black coffee, solid bitterness, not really aroma hops. Medium to full bodied, smooth and floury palate. Straightforward yet very enjoyable porter, silky just like the name says.

Dark black-brown color, small beige head. A bit sour, oaky, roasted aroma with some cocoa. Roasted, coffee, ash but in quite soft form. Lingering roastyness. This is quite silky indeed, but a bit too ashy. Anyway another good Hopping Frog.

Bottled. Quite much pitch black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is berries, quite smoked wooden, mild notes of sour wood and some slight toffeeish notes. Flavour is rather much the same along with a rather ashy finish.

Bottle@Home. Light soapy aroma with chocolate in the background. Black colour, light brown small head, fair lace. Sweet, chocolate, light bitter, hint of coffee in the finish. Nice but not exceptional.

The aroma is toasted with malt, molasses, hops, and coffee. The appearance is dark brown with a thin tan head. The flavor is like the aroma with a touch of chocolate. The palate is average for the style. Overall this is a very good beer.
