Aroma of nuts and toasted malts, some spicy hops. Some chocolate malts o come though a little bit in the taste, though not a whole lot. I think I got a little vanilla in there as well. Has a slightly chalky bitter finish. Kinda watery, moderate carbonation. Beer was actually a pleasant surprise--mainly because it’s kinda different, and somewhat because the label had me thinking this was a steaming pile. greenhorn1 (462), Mission Viejo, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 3, 2006 22 oz bottle. Dark amber with a reddish tint. Smells and tastes of sweet carmel with some roasted malt undertones. Nicely balanced with a medium to light mouthfeel. Lame label needs to go, but not a bad APA. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jun 4, 2006 Color is a reddish blonde with a decent sized head. Flavor was mostly malty with a bread biscuit undertone and hop profile. Not a beer to give me a stony happy face. egajdzis (3645), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 28, 2006 Poured a dark, reddish brown color with a small, light tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet caramel malts, toffee, dried fruits, and a citrus hoppiness. Taste of caramel malts, nuts, citrus fruits, some chocolate, and ending with a low hoppy bitterness. Average mouthfeel. smcd (366), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 27, 2006 (22oz Bottle. 03/2006) Caramel and chocolate notes in the aroma -- but only way down there ... difficult to perceive. Deep, deep, clear red with an offwhite head that dissipates quickly to a medium ring. Malty. Some hoppiness balancing the beer with a definite lingering chocolate aftertaste. Smooth. Medium-full bodied. Finishes, unfortunately a little bit thin. elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 9, 2005 Pours a medim brownish red with a decent sized head, aroma is sweet roasty malt with hint of floral hops. Flavor carries the aroma, medium bodied, somewhat syrupy and a bit of hops on the back end for a nice finish. This was a pleasant surprise, I found bombers from this brewery being blown out for $1 at Bevmo and bought 3 different examples of their ales. This was a very decent red (apa). | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 20, 2005 Light red brown transluscent color, small white head. Malty aroma with a faint floral hop note. Floral hop nose, followed by well balanced malt flavors/slightly acrid hop bitterness. Finish leaves faint esters of banana and apricot. mjg74 (2000), La Mesa, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 15, 2005 Pours a brown/amber color. Minimal head. Aroma is malty with a slight hint of hoppiness. Nice malty flavor. Fairly roasty as well. Slightly sweet. Bitter finish. Doesn’t taste like any APA I have ever had. This is a pretty nice little brew.
