Commercial Description:
Total Eclipse Black Ale has been described as similar to a light, dry stout. Characterized by its distinctive hop aroma and rich, black color, Total Eclipse redefines the way you think about a dark ale. Brewed at a low temperature to create a refreshingly dry finish, Total Eclipse uses only the finest two row malted barley and hops grown in the great Pacific Northwest. This combination results in a clean, crisp, hand-crafted experience.

bomber from bhensonb. shared with jessem. sometime you have a beer and you have to put it in the stupid good catagory. this was one of those times. pours black with a mid tan head that lasts and laces. aroma of american hops and roasted malts. the flavour is of a mid bodied stout with a huge hop bill. the dark malts are there but the ample hopping really compliments the malt body in a way that you rarely find in stouts. this is exactly what black ipas should tatse like. this was really a treat in every possible way and i didnt think it was going to be this good. one of the best non-imperial stouts ive ever had. thx bill!

650mL bomber shared by matt7215 at his place, Saturday afternoon tasting. Thanks Matt! This was some awesome stuff. Pours a nice dark brown with a huge tan head. The aroma was just spectacular. Hops! Super crisp awsome west coasty hops surrounding some roasty malts and coffee. Probably one of the best smelling stouts I’ve ever come across. The flavour is more malt driven, nice dry chalky coffee with some chocomalt, but hops begin and end the show, making this otherwise light drinkable stout into something delicious. And amazing. The hoppiest stout I’ve ever had and it was awesome.

A plaing malty aroma, but okay. A very dark red-black color. This is a nice beer. bit of hops and some bite, makes it very stout like. Good.

Aroma is a sweet and roasty combo of lightly roasted barley and citrus hops with a note of melted butter. Immaculate brown color with a thick and frothy head thats leaves a trail of mess down the glass. Slightly relaxed is the flavor with only mild undertones of roasted malt and a bittering hop bite unlike any dark ale i can remember of at the moment. Aftertaste is roasty and its almost like i just drank or ate something that was burnt over a bbq grill. Nice offering.

Aroma combines bittersweet chocolate and dark rye. A mild sweetness nicely undercut by a roasted bitter finish. An excellent choice for those who love dark beer in warm weather, because it has stout character but is not heavy. A really good California black beer.

$2.99 Bomber from Bottle Barn; Nose of grassy hops, coffee, chocolate, and roastiness; Clear very dark brown with a big cinnamon, glass-lacing, long lasting head; flavor is heavy with chocolate, has mild hop bitterness, and roasted coffee undertones, with a mildly bitter finish. Actually very excellent; what a find for a $3 beer!

22oz Bottle, A sweet trade extra. A clear dark brown/black with a huge rocky off white head that leaves loads of lacing all the way down. Aroma of dark roasty malts, bitter coffee,a bit of chocolate, charcoal, pipe tobacco. Flavor is just roasty enough, some light smoke, roasted coffee, and this light malty sweetness for some great balance, clean refreshing mouthfeel, medium carbonation, and a slightly dry finish. Very drinkable, a very well made craft brew ,and a fun try.
