Draft at Alexandria, VA location. Pours black with garnet in the shoulders and a thin off white head. Light aroma of roasted barley. Flavor is very roasty, some chocolate. Dry and mildly bitter finish. Full bodied mouthfeel. Pretty nice, on target for the style.

The best thing on the Hops sampler. Black with a tan head. Aroma was sweet, roast, caramel and alcohol. Flavor is the same with less roast and more cereal.

This is definately the best beer that I have ever had at hops. I like it because it actually has some depth of character. There are roasty malt flavors, combined with a decent amount of hops to balance it out. It has a sturdy body also.

Hops Restaurant and Brewery Richmond Va Sampler at the brewery. Very light roastyness in aroma. Clear dark amber brown. Slight smoke and roast in flavor. Faint sourness. Light body and mouthfeel with dry roasty finish and low hop bitterness. Rather thin and not as much roast character as I would like.

...draft at Gainesville location. This was the best they had to offer, but wasn’t that great. Decent roasted aroma, but tasted more like cheap coffee. Had a clearish brownish color with a tan, non lasting head. Way too light bodied, lacked flavor and complexity, not a porter.

Good rich taste and thick in body. Quality palate is not there though as the flavor has attributes of cheap coffee.
