Aromas of cocoa, roasted malt, hint of nuts and a hint of coffee. Palate was light bodied and creamy smooth. Flavors of cocoa, roasted malt, a hint of coffee and nuts with a smooth semi sweet finish. HopheadHans (753), Bay Area, California, USA Jun 11, 2006 tap. Dark brown with a huge frothy head. The flavor as well as the aromas are dominated by roasted malts and nuts. The body is more solid than most brown ales. Nice bitter sweet finish. smcd (366), USA Mar 20, 2006 (Cask. 03/2006) This should probably be classified as its own, unique brew. It was awesomel. Served from the cask with natural, soft carbonation, this presented wonderful, grassy, floral hop aromas balanced by chocolate, roasted barley, and deep earthy aromas with hints of dried fruits. Some oxidation was occurring -- which just enhanced this beer over the several days it was available Wonderful chocolate and notes of burnt toast with fig/date preserves for jam, full-bodied, yeasty, nutty, wonderful. luvcasks (178), USA Mar 6, 2006 On tap at Hop-Yard Pleasanton

Clear brown color, dry flavor, light body, nice roasty nose. It’s a very taste brown ale. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Sep 20, 2004 (Draft: Pizza Port in Carlsbad, CA) This is a very flavorful, enjoyable and well crafted brown ale; The main thrust of this beer, the moderately sweet, toasty maltiness, is delicious; There’s a fair amount of yeastiness, and a moderate hops bitterness provides good balance; Medium bodied with a good solid mouthfeel; Nice, toasty nose with sweet and mild hops aromas pretty much echoes the flavor; Deep mahogany color; Tan head looks creamy, with small bubbles; The head fades to a thin layer, but maintains that level; No lacing to speak of
