Body has some nice sweetness and hoppy balance, but could do a better job of hiding its alcohol. Overall, still an enjoyable DIPA. egajdzis (3636), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 4, 2004 GABF2004... Poured a golden copper color with a small off white head. Aroma was sweet though also strange musty citrus. It was not as vibrant as most other IIPAs. Nice bitter hops, with less than desirable malt profile. While it was a nice beer, it did not live up to some of the other IIPAs I had this weekend. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA

This one tends to showcase a nice complexity of flavors rather than smash you over the head. The flavor is malty, very hoppy and very bitter, with a distinct tea character. Very bitter finish. It’s a medium bodied brew, but has a somewhat full and thick mouthfeel, very smooth and soft on the palate. The nose is very nice, featuring a honey-like sweetness, lots of hops, a wort maltiness, some orange citrus, and a modest tea aroma that echoes the flavor, though it’s not nearly as obvious as in the flavor. Amber in color. Light tan head has solid retention, maintaining a small but dense layer on top, and leaving some patchy lacing. TChrome (1302), Bedford, Texas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2004 Beer pours dark amber with a big off white head that is nicely retained. Aroma is very enjoyable being prodiminately hoppy; grapefruity, but sweet not acidic. Flavor is not up to the promise of the aroma. Flavor is hoppy with some malt balance. No trace of the big ABV. Very good. BigBastard (668), L.A., California, USA

Aroma is that of cascade hop, including the typical grapefruit/citrus notes. Flavor is very hoppy including the pine notes that were expected. Also noticed some balancing caramel sweetness. Body is exactly what a IIPA should be. A nice alcohol finish. A very good double IPA. auto (161), California, USA
