The aroma is etremely hoppy leading towards grassyness. The flavor is sweet and very hoppy as well as grassy - so much, that it feels like it is scrathing the mouth while you drink it. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Oct 10, 2005 Clear light amber, limited off-white head. Enormous crystal malts bring caramel, cereals and bready flavours, but show no personal identity, while the hops focus on brash fruitiness, pear and pineapple-like. They are so oily at that, that you can’t help but make inevitable associations with butter that are not very pleasant at all. Alcohol hits strong, so does the bitterness, but the aromas were not there to match imo. Slick medium body, dry and citric palate, much tarter than average, the upcoming result being a less than effective balance for my tastes. CaptainCougar (5529), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Body has some nice sweetness and hoppy balance, but could do a better job of hiding its alcohol. Overall, still an enjoyable DIPA. JorisPPattyn (5192), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 11, 2003 Dark-orange, hazy. Slim head. Citrussy-gingerbread, orange-rind, cloves and cinnamon in the nose. Taste: HOPS - well, what did I suspect? - but the malt gives the right kind of underbuild. All of the former aromas return in the flavour. Very full-bodied, quite some alcohol detectable. This is great. Everything the 'ordinary' IPA from Hoptown is missing, is available here in an abundant way. ¾ (5003), Colorado, USA

Aroma is of orange peel and sweet hopped citrus, with a small amount of pine. Golden orange appearance, very dry and bitter with flavors of pine and sweet grapefruit. Nutty at times as well.
