| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 21, 2004 22 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy light orange, small white head, good lacing. Hoppy nose, very nice West Coast IPA. Not the monster the big brother is, more akin to a Stone IPA. nja (17), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 20, 2004 Nitrogen Tap at Barclays (hope it wasn’t the DUIPA). Opaque yellow/orange with creamy head. Very mild bitterness for an IPA, covered up by the creamy, richness of the beer. Not a bad beer, but just not must interesting about it. Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA

Started off in the aroma along with hops and floral notes. Taste was juicy sweet (too sweet after awhile) oranges along with the bitterness of the peel. Nice, but could’ve been better balanced. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 16, 2004 Bottle. Light hazy amber with a tall dense head that diminishes and leaves cream colored lace. Grapefruit stuck to a pine tree and splattered with honey.Thinner in feel than I expected. Malt lost early by the thin hops oils pulsing through the vains of this monster. Mild floral component. A touch too acidic for me. Dry woody and acidic hops finish. Takes a long time for malt to re-enter the picture. As a P.S. this does seem to warm up nicely. The sweetness does come back and help with the acidity, and thickens, but the acid is still very evident. y0cola (361), fremont, California, USA

Thick apricot color with a misty orange core. Fruity mango aroma. When i tasted it i proclaimed, "Dude this is hella fruity"
Initial sweetness which subsides to a spicy grapfruit. I tried it next to the DUIPA, and there wasn't too much of a difference here. just some hops and smoothness. amazing beer. zen (41), Long Beach, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 24, 2004 Very solid IPA. Pours a nice orangy color, nice but quick disipating head. Nice lace all the way down. Smells of hops, light malts and citrus. Light-bodied with a nice oily, if not a bit thin, mouthfeel. Nice, perky and solid example. Very Californian IPA, sharp and clean. obxdude10 (1563), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA
