| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jan 8, 2007 22oz bottle poured dark almost black in color with a nice brown head. Chocolate, toffee, oatmeal, roast and hops make up the aroma. The taste had an unexpected bitterness that fell too a silky sweet chocolate. The use of oatmeal makes for a nice thick mouthfell. Overall a very well made stout, well worth a try. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 21, 2006 From a 22 oz. bomber bottle with a blurb on the right side of label, no freshness date.
Poured a subtle purple hued blackish brown with a foamy tan head that quickly settled into a fine lacing.
Aromas of sweet roasted malts, a light coffee and grapefruity at the edges.
Moderate carbonation and a crisp, sweet, creamy smooth medium-fullish bodied mouthfeel.
Tastes of softly roasted coffee, a light burnt chocolate, a nice sweetness from the oatmeal, grapefruity hops show up in the middle, adding a sourness, a slight alcohol flavor the end, the alcohol is also warming in the palate, and a roasted chocolate malty finish, a little lingering hop presence in the aftertaste.
A pleasant, smooth oatmeal breakfast stout, perfect on a cold midwest night.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 25, 2006 Bottle: Courtesy of Styles. Aroma has lots of chocolate, light coffee, a hint of oatmeal, and a hint of roasted grain. Pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small tan head. Lots of chocolate up front with a hint of vanilla. Finishes with light roasted coffee and a touch of oatmeal. Mouthfeel is just a tad thin. I prefer this over the Old Yeltsin. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2006 22oz bottle via my Secret Santa! - Thanks! - Pours black with a fairly large mocha head. Aromas of light roasted malts, light coffee and chocolate. Flavor is mostly roasted and toasted malts, light coffee and chocolate there too. A touch of lactose on the finish along with some light citrus hops. Palate seemed watery and a tad airy for my liking as far as a stout goes. Nothing offensive about this one. Just nothing that makes it outstanding either. kramer (2515), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jun 23, 2006 22 oz bottle, via dhlesq. Pours a pitch black body under a craggy foamy chocolate brown head. Excellent retention. Aroma is roasty and chocolaty with some coffee, dry yeastiness, and earthy oats. Flavor is maybe a little thin but pretty good all the same. Roasty and bitter with alot of coffee and burnt malt astringency on the finish. Mouthfeel is fairly thin and watery in texture with alot of distracting fizzy carbonation. Overall, pretty decent and drinkable, but the mouthfeel was a big detractor for me. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jun 10, 2006 Bottle from DarkElf. Poured blackish brown, with a huge foamy brown head. Nose had a slight burnt coffee tint, but also some roasting. Upon the taste, there was that slight burnt, but good depth of chocolate and creaminess. There was also a strong oat presence. I first thought that there was a lot of carbonation, but letting this warm in my hands did little to quell that. The back end of this falls off. Not bad though. Easy to drink. 11026 (1779), Alabama, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 31, 2006 Bottle from DarkElf. Pours out a black color with perhaps a tint of red at the edges. A decent, 1/4" head forms and fades slowly down to a small layer covering the beer. Decent lacing. Aroma is fully roasted. A bit acrid and burnt by not unpleasantly so. Oats are noticeable along with a touch of dark chocolate. Body is medium but there is a disappointing wateriness to this beer. A void forms after drinking and the flavors don’t seem to add up to the aroma. A touch of oats, some chocolate and over-roasted grain. Fair but there is better out there.
