| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 19, 2004 Ann and I opened this while camping along the Chetco river bank in SW Oregon. Poured this out with a nice fire going on the rocks, skywatching all night as we lay on the bank of the river. Oh man it was nice... the beer was quite good too, it had a musty nose of cocoa and chocolate, the oats were evident, and the flavor was a hoppy and creamy brown malts with a nice bitter baker’s chocolate. Medium "stout" texture, thick and semi-sweet in the finish. BigBastard (668), L.A., California, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 14, 2004 Bottle pours opaque, large frothy tannish head, with attractive lacing.   Carob, light malts, and even slighter soy on the nose.   Unsweetened chocolate, light hops, and roasted malts on the tongue.   Medium body, slightly slick mouthfeel.   Subtle finish of hops, heavy roasted malts, chocolate, and butter (maybe).   A decent, albeit light, stout.   Perhaps thats why it has the name "Breakfast" in it?   Thanks goes out to Flipbrewer for the trade.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 9, 2004 Pours almost jet black with a tan head. Roasted coffee nose with some Dutch cocoa and hints of fruit. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with a little bite like bitter coffee. Flavor is dark roasted coffee with a touch of chocolate added. This would certainly pass for a breakfast drink. Kasteelfreak (341), Fallbrook, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 6, 2004 Decent stout, but not great it any way. Starts off kind of thin and syrupy, then turns bitter. Aftertaste has a lot of burnt cocoa and coffee notes. It’s kind of unpleasant. I had AlpineCaptain Stout the other night. I would say that they are similar styles, but the Alpine is much better. This one is getting old fast PorterPounder (3148), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 30, 2004 I really wanted to like this one, but it is just not working. Dark, licorice black pour with a thin but persistent beige head. Aroma has some phenholic qualities to along with some underlying toffee notes. Mouthfeel is very creamy, velvety at first but metalicizes a bit near the end of the bomber. Flavor has some burnt coffe notes, a bit of bitter cocoa and some toffee. Had many better sweet stouts. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 12, 2004 Deep dark, almost black color and medium tan head. Flavor was creamy and rich, hummy! Very full mouth feel and complex chocolate flavor that I really enjoyed. Initially smooth but with a strong bitte after taste that seems to last too long. Overall it is, in my opinion, a better brew than the rating indicates.
