Definitely hoppy for an amber ale, but has quite a bit of malt too. A little thin at times. Overall pretty tasty. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA

A strong pine aroma to accompany the sweet malt aroma. Caramel malt taste with a pine hop finish. A chewy beer that is very enjoyable. hayduke (1664), Eureka, California, USA

Big nose of caramel malts and fruit, backed up my by cirrus hops. Good smooth mouthfeel. Flavor of fruits and hops and a moderate bitter finish. An excellent beer, and unlike most ambers. He claimed that it was from his son who lives in California, so I have no idea how long it’s been sitting in his fridge. However, the label on the bottle was worn and faded with age, so I anticipated this taste to be quite interesting. Poured a delicious-looking dark brown/amber body with two fingernails of tan head that, within 30 seconds, receded to a tan rim of froth. Beautiful tan lacing and a lovely aroma of piney hops, red fruits, and sweet caramel. Similar flavors with more caramel, subtle wood, some funky yeast, dark fruits, green apple, and a lack of hops character that the bottle label promised to give. Despite the lack of hops, this was a surprisingly great-tasting beer. This has surely been aged since the flavors, although definitely there, were smoothed out and refreshing. Full body and medium/full carbonation. Very good; age this brew if you can. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 1, 2003 This was a very solid amber ale. A flaming orange color with a mild head. Lots of hopps are present in the aroma, but more so in the taste. Some mild tartiness noticable in the taste as well, possibly some red grapfruit. This is like an amber ipa due to all the hoppiness, and is a pleasure to enjoy. akinm (282), San Diego, California, USA

My second thought was, "damn i love that beer too!" this one features a malty background in both the nose and flavor but the balance is tipped towards the hops which have been added to perfection. lots of citrussy flavors blending well with caramel malt richness. yet another beer that i want to drink more of.
