ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA May 7, 2007 Bomber poured a nearly opaque black with a small lasting brown head. Aromas of vanilla, milk chocolate and a hint of mocha. Palate was medium bodied smooth and creamy. Flavors of milk chocolate, vanilla, some roastiness and a hint of coffee with a smooth lingering bittersweet finish. A very tasty vanilla porter! bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Apr 18, 2007 Draft. Nitro. Dark blackish beer with a dark cream colored nitro head. Chocolate, slight roast aroma. Nice chocolate/vanilla flavor with backing roast. Creamy nitro mouthfeel. Lingering chocolate. Chocolate dominates and it didn’t have as much vanilla as others have said. chilehead (186), Laguna Niguel, California, USA Apr 25, 2006 On tap at O’Brien’s. Nose was pure vanilla extract. Very round mouthfeel with little to no hop presence. Interesting novelty beer. Bit too cloying, and vanilla was a bit too dominant. BückDich (4793), McCall, Idaho, USA Apr 13, 2006 Tap at O’Brien’s: Pours a dark brownish/black color with light head. The nose is huge with vanilla extract, cherry and oak notes. The flavor has an odd vanilla twang to it along with some chocolate mocha roast. Almost like doughy chocolate chips that have had too much vanilla put in. Unbalanced and really not my thing. Finess is not its fine suit but this would probably do well near the end of an exhaustive tasting. elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA Apr 11, 2006 On Tap at O’Briens. A sweet roasty vanilla experience, very enjoyable to have a taster of but not sure I could handle a larger glass due to residual sweetness. Uriel (144), San Jose, California, USA Apr 7, 2006 Beautiful thick, light brown head, very dark brown beer. A whiff of this lets you know in no uncertain terms that HI I AM VANILLA. Lots of vanilla flavor with late coffee notes and a bit of burnt flavor. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Apr 7, 2006 Tap, O’Briens. Pours dark black color. Roasted malty aroma with a bit of hoppiness. Sweet vanilla up front with some roasted coffee. Finish is a little too sweet and starts wearing on you after a while. Still it is pretty good. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Apr 3, 2006 Draft at O/Brien’s. Served on Nitro. Darkest color with a tan head that held forever thanks to the nitro. I knew it was VANILLA so I could smell the vanilla on the aroma. I wonder if I hadn’t known I would have detected chocolate. Chocolate was definitley on the flavor. Overall, it was very sweet with that classic dusty porter twang on the finish. I really like this one.
