Bottle from the brewer. Over the top vanilla aroma, to the point of seeming sickly and one-dimensional. Roasted, slight coffee flavors made the tasting more orbust, with some smoke and a lactic edge. As I continued drinking, I noted "roasted" once again. Deep brown color. A very good beer once I got past the aroma.

Bottle from the brewer, had this at the Dallas tasting, MArch 27, 2004. Vanilla coffee aroma, with the vanilla very strong, but the aroma not very complex, just the vanilla and a small amount of coffee and chocolate. Roasty and coffee flavored, some chocolate, but not going much past that. Tastes good, but not deep.

Aroma is very vanillaly, and a little smoky. Flavour is slightly vanillaly, very burnt, and coffeeish. I like what they did with it - I think that if you're going to put a label on something like "kriek" "vanilla" etc., the beer should destroy the boundaries of your tastebuds. This one is very vanilla. I like vanilla.

an aggressive explosion of vanilla and roasted coffee fumes flows from this pitch black beauty covered in a thin swirl of tan bubbles...A colossal bite of vanilla floating in a sea of roasted & flavorful coffee...chunks of bitter chocolate rained upon by vanilla beans...succulent coffee cake and a deep roasty aftertaste..the mouthfeel pleasantly oily..very impressive, but wouldn't want to drink more than 1 in a siting.

This porter pours with a dark brown body with no head or lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet bu mostly bitter, smokey and malty with strong vanilla notes. The flavor is slightly sweet and bitter with tons of vanilla. It tastes like vanilla extract! There is also a slight roasty/smokey note. Medium to full bodied and smooth, with no carbonation.

A fantastic porter that seems a little stronger than most. Pours a deep black with minimal brown head. Flavors of coffee, chocolate, and an underlying vanilla flavor to top it off. Dry on the palate and each sip begging for more

on tap @ hopyard in Ptown. Chocolate, vanilla aroma which seemed very deep and thick. Vanilla flavor with bitter aftertaste. Nice thick lasting head with dark black brown color.

Tap @ Jupiter in Berkeley. What a treat. The vanilla aroma is intense and delightful. A medium bodied porter with a good toasted malt base and a powerful vanilla flavor. An email from the brewery indicated that this was a new creation from homebrewer Al Branch's library.
