GABF 2009, Copper/golden orange pour, leafy hoparoma. Big Pacific NW hop flavor. Great balance. One of the better IPA’s I sampled in Denver & that includes judging the Aplha King @ Falling Rock

(Draft) Sampled at GCBF 2009 in Victoria on September 9, 2009. Great fresh hops. Very orange. Great tart PNW, wow. Other breweries take note - this is what an IPA should taste like. 9/5/9/4/18

Nose is citrus - grapefruit and orange, floral hops, grassy sweetness, and some doughy sweet malts. Oddly like a mix between a strong pils and IPA. Pours golden orange with a nice frothy head and sticky lace. Doughy, bready, grassy, with big floral and citrus hops in the finish a good deal of grapefruit. Lingering citrus notes in the finish. Nice sharp hoppy IPA. This one drinks nicely.

My 100th IPA rating. 22 oz bottle. Clear orange with a puffy white head. Nose is brown sugar, mums-like floral and hints of fresh cut pine. Crisp and juicy with moderate carb. Taste is grapefruit, sour orange and zest. Finishes with a soft hop bite. I could drink a few.

Appearance: Pours a clearish, amber-hued body with a nicely-sized, dense, long-lasting, whitish head. A very lovely looking India Pale Ale. Smell: Lightly grainy, lightly caramelly malts surrounded by pleasantly fragrant aromas of pithy, juicy citrus fruits, cut field grasses, and light pine. Taste: Sweetish upfront malts with a touches of caramel and grains cross the tongue before you’re catapulted into the hops. Vibrant hop flavors of tangerine, white grapefruit, pine resin, and even an underlying leafy grassiness. Staunch, medium-high bitterness. Finishes appropriately dry and bitter. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Slight oiliness to the mouthfeel. Drinkability: A fine IPA! If you do not both enjoy the hell out of this, then you have serious problems, and will never truly enjoy anything, and I despise you.

bottle courtesy of kenb. pours a hazy light orange with a spongy stark head. smell is of bitter hops with some dirt and murky woods in it. nice example of a classic bitter ipa with no frills, just true to style. nice resinous better flavor from the hops all the way through, good carbonation, almost too fizzy. finish exposes just the slightest malt sweetness for a really nice aftertaste. good stuff, very sessionable ipa.

22oz bottle. Opaque orange pour with a thin off-white head. Orangy hop aroma with some sweet malt and a bit of vegetable quality. Nicely balanced flavor of citrusy hops and sweet malt. Pretty far down the list in terms of the best IPAs I’ve had, but kudos on topping the list for organics.
