Flavor is quite tart with some mild funkyness. Great citrus and sour fruit flavors. Not sweet, nice dry mellow finish. A great Geuze. cheapdark (2050), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA

Had the pleasure of sampling this at the 7/9/2009 Pittsburgh RB tasting extravaganza (PGHRBEXT) at the Sharp Edge Creekhouse. It will be a long time, if ever I see a spread of bottles like I did there. I am not good enough for the beers that were that we served! For example, how about this beer; Horal bottle #58! Smell is quite like tart candy with a funky farmy background. Good initial taste sensations, wew, simply very tasty. Big foamy pour and a slight haze on an otherwise pale lager appearance. Lacks the typical funk but is just plain fun on the tastebuds. Very nice tingly palate. One fine enjoyable brew. Sour, tart and easy. Some mild bitterness but nothing detracting. Very excellent beer tasting experience. Love those sour brews, my favorite! Wish I had more of this stuff!

Great funky sour nose, with barnyard and horse blanket, tons of Brett and a light hop presence. Citrusy. Light amber hazy body with a large frothy white lacing head. Medium thin body with lively carbonation and a chalky finish. Moderate bitterness with huge sour funky flavors throughout and into the after with a chalky end. Terrific gueuze. It didn’t hit with the huge bang of my first Cantillons but the funky qualities are still really good. Bottle shared at RBSG 2009 grand tasting. RCL (1496), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 16, 2009 Classic old basement aroma. Dusty and lemony. Superbly balanced flavor, not scorchingly sour. This is one to lay down. Many thanks to my gracious host, you know who you are! JorisPPattyn (5193), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 31, 2009 Timmermans label, but all beer is blended @ F. Boon Towering off-white head; hazy ochre-copper beer. Tart, grapey nose with overpowering horseblanket, spent grain, leathergrease and lunaria. Sweetish, grapey again, and I’m getting old cheesy hops. Finish is drier. Fuller bodied than most gueuzes, with sourness coming as an afterthought, with again hops coming up in the very aftertaste. Surprising beer, just a bit different, but well-worth looking for. bierkoning (6112), La Tropica, Netherlands
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 9, 2009 Corked bottle, back label from Lindemans. Orange blonde color. Citrus, oak, leather and honey in the aroma. Sour, but also a very fruity geuze with grapefruit, pineapple, tangerine and lemon. Notes of oak and honey. Already a good complexity, still a bit rough at the edges. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
