LtJudge (431), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Nov 4, 2009 Pours a cloudy pale yellow color with a small white head. Aromas of wet grain, and faint smell of citrus. The flavor was rather, well I guess the best way to put it..."weird".Its had a wannabe wiess-like wheat flavor that turns into something confusing. It reminded me of Blue Moon, but worse. This one is obviously made for the masses. Thanks for sharing Firemn! vikingguy (138), Chaska, Minnesota, USA Oct 21, 2009 Pours a cloudy yellow color with small white head. Aroma has some citrus, malt and some spicy & grainy notes. Taste is dry, a little alcohol, some corn & wheat, lemon, very little sweetness. On the watery side. Interesting...this is the second Saison I’ve had and the style is odd to me...seems like it’s a spiced wheat beer only they take away all the sweetness. It is refreshing but seems bland. MrBunn (1520), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 21, 2009 Bottle with twist off cap. I’m a little bitter and jaded after my last two "Horny Goat" experiences, so I’m not going into this with a truly open mind. Body is a hazy gold with a thin head and aromas are a little dubious... a bit of cloves and lemons, and in the background is a landfill-type aroma that I’m beginning to associate with the label. Still, the landfill scent is faint enough that there is some hope. Flavor is some form of redemption for the brand... it isn’t great and has a distinctly adjunct side to it, but it does have a bit of niceness to it. A bit of lemon and some faint cloves, a honey sweetness... It is watery and washed out, but not awful... this is the best Goat. SHANER4 (370), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Aug 26, 2009 bottle - poured piss yellow with small white head.
Aroma - spices, fresh rolls and grassy notes.
Flavor - watered down biscuit, corn taste. Semi sweet with some lemon.
Palate - very thin bodied with little carbonation. Finish is dry and has grassy/lemon aftertaste.
Overall - Drinkable beer with little flavor and is very boring. I probably would choose a domestic over this!! roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 7, 2009 Tried all three of horny goat’s beers and all were equally as watery and boring. Pours a hazy yellow with minimal fizzy white head. Aroma sweet, a bit doughy and spicy. Flavor is watery, corny, a bit doughy, with a slight lemon essence and a dry finish. Overall, bad. Beerman6686 (1266), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 6, 2009 This poured a cloudy yellow color with a white head. Aroma was sweet and little hints of spices. Flavor was vedry bland, a bit watery and lager like. beerwolf77 (42), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 28, 2009 Poured from a bottle into pint glass. Less then a quarter inch of head that dissapated within seconds. Nice golden color cloudy enough to pique my interest.
Smell was faintly sweet a bit of citrus. Yet not very appealing.
Taste wasn’t bad but wasn’t good either. Maybe a touch of sweetness but no spice. Rather dry. Hardly much flavor to speak of.
Mouthfeel was smooth with a bit of carbonation. Reminds me of any average lite beer.
I guess I could drink a few of these. Only since it’s not overly offensive but this is a very boring average beer. Too bad this beer gets so much hype in my area. Flickr(http://www.flickr.com/photos/26049401@N08/3794136112/) Aroma immediately yields bile-heavy vomit, wet creamed corn, a bit of pea mush, and some faint caramelized kettlecorn. Pours a murky, clouded straw yellow, with rim in plain white. Flavor isn’t as offensive. Is it really possible to make a macro-saison? If so, this is it. It tastes like a bud-light, sprinkled ever so lightly with a smattering of yeasty spice and some hop resins. It’s kind of drinkable, but it’s also incredibly bland. The corn comes through way too heavily. I really don’t want to taste a can of creamed corn in with my Saison. The gimmicky labeling really turned me off, but I couldn’t turn down a chance to try a new Saison. For a macro-lager, this is pretty flavorful, for a Saison, this is an embarrassment to the style.
