| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Apr 21, 2009 Hazy to cloudy pale straw color with a tall creamy white head. Darest I say a lager-like aroma. Smells of grain, including corn and white bread yeast. Palate is fairly thick, mainly from a lack of life. The pour looks okay, but it seems to waste a lot of energy on it head. Lightly citric malt and just a hint of yeast. Not much in the spice department. Me thinkest that they took the citrus out of the wit and called it a saison. A light ale at best. Skyview (4063), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 29, 2009 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle via trade with JPDIPSO. Pours a semi-hazy golden straw brew with a lumpy white head that has some nice retention and sticky lacing. Aroma of light yeast, some golden grain malt with wheat, some light pineapple and pear. Taste is medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of coriander, some orange zest, golden grain malt with wheat, citrus seed and a hint of corn grits. Finish is semi-sweet with a light orange/peach aftertaste that quickly disappears. Almost closer to a sweet light wit than a saison. Ughsmash (4057), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jul 1, 2009 Bottled. Poured slightly hazy medium golden with a short-lived cap of white head. The aroma picked up some lemon rind and dusty wheat character over sweet pale malts.. very little actually going on here, but it was non-offensive. The flavor had the same dry wheat and pale malts at the core, picking up the slightest pinch of honey.. dry spices and a little lemon around.. dry wheat and tangy citrus on the finish. Light-bodied, dry, and fizzy on the palate.. really little going on in this one. 1FastSTi (2577), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 20, 2009 Tap at the horny goat hideaway. The beer pours to a cloudy straw colored body with a nice white head. Decent but spotty lacing throughout the drink. The aroma had simple grains and subtle saison character. The flavors consisted of nice pale grain and subtle saison-like hopping and bready yeasts. Lemons and straw. I thought this beer was super simple to drink and much better than the ratings are giving it. Perhaps it doesn’t translate well into bottles? Bockyhorsey (2552), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 29, 2009 Wife boght this one for me. Decent aroma with some spiey notes but mainley burnt barley oats. Hazy gold body with white head. Flavor wasn’t hat bad had a zesty citrus to it along with some spice and carbination. A sweet spice dryness lingers a bit for aftertaste. Decent brew. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | May 5, 2009 I wasn’t surprised when I tasted this brew that it would be nothing like a Saison. That’s how the other Horny Goat was, completely unlike it’s stated style and extremely poor. No notes of spice, an aroma that smells like a glass of water- clean water. So nothing to it really. Light mouthfeel, that is extremely thin. And basically a faint hint of citrus fruit in the very finish. Big bummer. CharlesDarwin (1849), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jul 28, 2009 Updated: Aug 23, 200912oz Bottle. Flickr(http://www.flickr.com/photos/26049401@N0 Aroma immediately yields bile-heavy vomit, wet creamed corn, a bit of pea mush, and some faint caramelized kettlecorn. Pours a murky, clouded straw yellow, with rim in plain white. Flavor isn’t as offensive. Is it really possible to make a macro-saison? If so, this is it. It tastes like a bud-light, sprinkled ever so lightly with a smattering of yeasty spice and some hop resins. It’s kind of drinkable, but it’s also incredibly bland. The corn comes through way too heavily. I really don’t want to taste a can of creamed corn in with my Saison. The gimmicky labeling really turned me off, but I couldn’t turn down a chance to try a new Saison. For a macro-lager, this is pretty flavorful, for a Saison, this is an embarrassment to the style. lithy (1750), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Dec 16, 2009 Pours a golden yellow with a thin white cover. Aroma is pathetic really, not sure how else to describe this. A saison? If you hadn’t said that I’d say for a fact it was a pale lager. Empty, some sweetness, corn, adjunct, grassy. Taste is again just...what? C’mon, some sweetness in there and a light spice note that seems forced instead of estery but just so empty overall and nothing that should be in a saison. How is this 0.6% to style. 0.0% must be some garbage juice that is named saison.
