Commercial Description:
Horny Goat Wheat is a Belgian-Style white beer, craft brewed with wheat, malted barley, hops and a bit of orange peel and coriander. It’s natural haze from yeast and wheat make it a classic to be enjoyed on its own, or with a slice of orange. Horny Goat Wheat loves big cans... those little 12 ounce bottles aren’t enough beer, and cans fully protect the beer from light and oxygen, producing a new level of fresh that you won’t find out of a bottle. Cans are also easier to recycle and better for the environment... as an ecologist if you don’t believe the brainiacs at Horny Goat.

A belgian wit from City Brewery, this should be a treat. Hazy, dirty golden color. Moderate, big bubbled, off-white head. Aromas of grain, old oranges and some spent spices. Well that’s as good as it gets. Touch of wheat and grain in the start. Some circus peanut sweetness in the middle along with a bit of pickling spice. Rather dry finish. Some more old dried up orange flavor. A tough style that was not handled with much finesse.

Can from Mellow Mushroom (Chattanooga). Poured hazy yellow color with a large frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sweet grainy aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium citrus sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Drinkable but only worth having once.

From a 24 oz. can purchased at the local Co-Op. The body is cloudy light straw with a white head. The aroma is light banana and clove. The taste is the expected weakly clove spiced banana. There is a little bit of the orange peel. An ok wit for the price and being canned.

Can shared with kp prior to the tasting: Slightly hazed and a small head. The aroma has notes of orange peel, coriander, wheat, white wine grape, and medicinal. The taste is twangy and fruity with wheat and wet grains in the background, again a grapy finish and metallic as well. The mouth feel is lively and sprite, refreshing enough. Well it does not suck, would work at the beach.

Sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN and shared by joebrew. From a 24-oz "silo" pours a semi-clear golden pale brew with a fast dissolving white head that leaves behind a thin white ring. Aroma of corn malt, some citrus zest, and a touch of dried pine cone. Taste is light to medium bodied, well-carbonated with a semi-sweet corn malt and flowery hop flavor. Finish is quite gritty, slightly metallic with a corn husk aftertaste that does not sit well. Almost a cargo train wreck!

16oz can. Poured clear bright golden with about 1" of initial white head.. lots of rising carbonation. The aroma wasn’t bad with maize and banana sweetness accented by white pepper and a little orange zest.. sweet overall. The flavor was quite similar with sweet honey and pale malts at the core.. mild tangy wheat and orange zest at the edges.. picked up some dry peppery spicage for the finish.. just a touch sour right at the back. Lighter-bodied with a bit of syrupy texture on the palate.. not quite dry enough at the finish.. tangy tartness was close to metallic, but maintained its air of refreshment. Much better than it rates.
