Commercial Description:
This style of beer is classified as an American Red Ale. The focus is on the malts used during the brewing process. Our version of this beer uses malt and hops imported from England. The aroma is as mildly sweet as the taste.

Bomber. Pours clear, brick red with excellent foam afro. Medium body with light touch on the carbonation. Malty, grainy (Munichy?). A tad sweet. Estery as well. Hops are restrained; they say from England, but I don’t think they’re EKG or Fuggles. Not American citrus either. A nice beer, but might have liked it a bit drier.

Fruity and sweet aroma with some Belgian esters? Glowing red in color with a thick off-white head and some lacing. Caramelly sweet in flavor, slight perfume from the hops, lots of toffee, twinges of old world hops and a bit of deep roasted malts. Very rich and luscious. A bit of caramel candy corn lingers. Well crafted. Every beer I have had from Horseheads has impressed!

Aroma is wet cardboard and chlorine. Some would-be roasted and pale malts. A bitter Euro hop presence; not up to par in the nose. Appearance is brick red, true to its name. Bit shaving cream head. Rick and hazy, lots of bubbles. Flavor is dry roasted malts that have a touch of caramel and butterscotch. Flowery hops, undercut by a hint of toffee. A bit unfocused but not bad. A bitter Euro hop/German malt finish. Palate is ashy and rough on the tongue. Thicker than most ales; not smooth. Although the aroma is lacking, this is a not-horrible bittersweet beer. Slightly below average.

Bottle. Pours copper orange with a fluffy off white head. The aroma has a fruity, almost candy like sweetness, with caramel and light hops. The flavor is sweet caramel malts, light toasty/bready notes, a hint of fruity sweetness and some earthy hops. Nice.

(Rating #2020)
