georgekessel (68), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jan 1, 2008 Tall, 1ltr fliptop bottle. Deep amber colour with a small off-white head. As any winter beer should be, it had a delicious spicy sensoral of cinammon, coriander, orange peel and nutmeg. This beer was surprisingly drinkable as the spices were not too strong. I found myself easily finishing the bottle and opening another thereafter.
BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 13, 2008 Dark copper body with minimal head. Father John is malty and spicy on the nose. Some nutmeg and cinnamon. Nice caramel malt sweetness upfront with nice underlying spice before a touch of bitterness rounds this off. Nice einter beer. tiggmtl (4178), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Feb 7, 2008 Strong caramel malt base beneath dense rich warm spicing in the nose. Notes of cinnamon and orange are especially apparent. Clear, deep brown-amber coloured body is topped by a decent off white head that recedes to a lasting cover. Quite sweet, round and malty flavour showcases the spices but never seems cloying. Some light lingering dark malt character is notable in the aftertaste. Bitterness is just enough to keep the sweetness in check. Medium full body with wonderful, soft bubbled carbonation that engages the tongue and cheeks. Quite a nice winter warmer. Too bad yesterday’s snow didn’t stick around... Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. 1L swingtop bottle (Brewery Creek, Dec-07). TheJester (510), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Dec 26, 2007 1 L flip top. Translucent coca-cola brown with a small head that fades to a ring. The aroma is mild - sweet malt and spice. The taste is sweet, with a combination of spices that are either subtle or cluttered to the point of being indistinguishable. No alcohol in the flavour. (It actually tastes better than I am making it sound - the spices, while difficult to distinguish, are not overwhelming by any means.) Medium body, and slightly bitter finish. joss (3252), Garching b. München, Germany Dec 7, 2007 bottle. Red orange, creamy head. Fruity notes (peach, apple ) Christmas spices. Mellow sparkly mouthfeel. Not entirely harmonic, but nice enough.
