chocolate sweetness, some nutty qualities, easy drinking.
JB175 (1356), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 29, 2008 Darker brown with a medium head. Aroma is roasty-coffeish aroma. Flavor is a bit roasty with an oddly-metallic fiinish. Not bad, but seemsed a bit off. GAManiac (337), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 3, 2008 Pours dark, dark brown with mahogany in the edges and a decent off-white head that lingers for a while leaving bits of lacing. The aroma is really nice with sweet roasted malts and chocolate dominating. There’s also a bit of lactose in nose as well. The taste has the malted milk ball taste up front with some coffee bitterness in the finish. There’s a roasted character to the taste throughout. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with decent carbonation and a little dry in the finish. All in all, a very drinkable porter and one that I would recommend. pineypower (892), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Sep 1, 2008 Thanks to Pepsican for this. Pours out a dark brown with a moderate tanish head. Aroma was of roasted malt, coffee and some chocolate. Taste is mainly of roasted malt, slight chocolate and coffee. Easy drinking and all around a solid beer. Ughsmash (3070), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Aug 28, 2008 Bottled. Poured deep brown with some yeasties floating around in there and a short-lived cap of beige head. The aroma was on the weak side with near-burnt black patent malts leading the way.. lesser chocolate, light oats, and molasses in there as well. The flavor picked up coffee that I missed on the nose along with sweeter chocolates and light molasses.. finished with dry, grainy bitterness. Medium-bodied with way too much fluffy carbonation that impeded the flow.. some niice character in here, but really a decent brew at best. dchmela (768), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 27, 2008 Bottle courtesy of pepsican. Pours a reddish black with a thin tan head. Not much aroma, but I get some chocolate as it warms. Taste is roasted grain, chocolate malt with an oat silkiness, very nice. Solid smooth porter.
