I liked this one. It was complex and sweet, creamy and malty. Pretty good. Arnie (272), Chicagoland, IL, Illinois, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 18, 2007 Pint glass from a bottle. Disappointing. Dark brown pour with a fizzy but thin head. Heavy on the malt, but also heavy on the alcohol-aftertaste. Not something Id do again. Rynoplasty (512), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 5, 2007 Pours dark amber brown with about a finger of white head. Aroma is kind of skunky like certain pale lagers, but with some malt and hop smells as well. You can definitely taste caramel, and a tiny bit of roastiness. Overall, an ok beer, but not bad at all for the price. hopdog (5562), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 24, 2007 12oz bottle. Poured a medium brown, with a red tint, and a small sized off white head. Aromas on the soft side and included caramel, toffee, roast and bready. Tastes of caramel, some dark fruits, and roast. Body was thin. For me, this one was just all around too thin and weak. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 21, 2007 Pours a clear reddish brown, topped by a half inch head of light tan foam that reduces to a sparse cap and a ring in short order. Decent lacing at first, scant lacing after half the beer is gone. I find a mild sweet caramel malt and a hint of cherry wood in the aroma as soon as I pop the cap, but oddly after the beer is poured in the glass the aroma is somewhat diminished.
The flavor is drier and thinner than the aroma led me to believe. It is more of a toasted malt, however the caramel and very little stone fruit come through briefly in the finish. The aftertaste is dry, however, and more like the toasted malt with a mild non-descript hop presence.
Medium body, gentle but ample carbonation BeerBelcher (940), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 7, 2007 I was pretty pleased with this beer. I remember taking the Huber tour in Monroe a few years back and not being too impressed then or more recently with the Berghoff beers, but I thought this offering to be above average.
It poured a dark brown with good white head.
Aroma was of caramel malt and was slightly sweet.
Taste was typical of bock-beer, with a quite pleasing caramel malt taste and good balance.
Mouthfeel was good; and I must say that this beer surprised me in a pleasant way. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA

Very dark amber color with a dense, off-white head. Aroma and flavor are slightly roasted malt with a every so slight amoung of alcohol in the finish. Medium body and slightly creamy on the palate.
On a side note: I am glad that I was able to visit the Joseph Huber Brewing Company and take a tour of the facility. It is the second oldest brewery in America, but has recently been bought by a Canadian and will be renamed to Minhas Craft Brewery... theisti (1661), Leawood, Kansas, USA
