gunnfryd (2743), Kristiansand, Norway Oct 28, 2007 Bottle. pale golden colour with a white head. Aroma is fruit, malt, grain. Flavour is fruit, malt, grain, hay. Boring beer. yngwie (3602), Kristiansand, Norway Oct 21, 2007 Bottle. Clear, pale golden beer with a white head. Quite weak nose, grainy with a little fruityness and some hay. Grainy flavor with bitterness that lasts. Hay as well, initially. Thin to medium body. Decent, or at least not foul, but dead boring. (070809) pivnizub (3899), Porúří, Germany Oct 5, 2006 Bügelverschlußflasche: Pale golden, mid-sized fluffy head, quickly collapsing and sticking to the glass; sweet-malty and cardboardy nose with a touch of vegetables; weak sweetish-bitter flavour; slightly bitter finish with a big touch of cooked vegetables and a faint metallic tinge. Down the drain......... bierkoning (4935), La Tropica, Netherlands Aug 15, 2006 I remember having been to Köthen before (in 1991) and tasting some beers of this brewery. First I visited a friend then living in East Germany near Chemnitz, together with jbrus and travelled on, first to Köthen, later on to Berlin. The Köthen beers seemed average, except for a bready helles. And now I renew the acquaintance with this zwickel-pils. Blonde and hazy. Swing top bottle. Firm frothy head, fading away slowly. Light citric but dusty aroma. Medium to full bodied. Malty with a flowery hoppiness and a bit of citrus. Good quality pilsener that IMO has suffered a bit in the bottle. MoritzF (3926), Ruhrpott, Germany Jul 25, 2006 (swing top bottle) Hazy yellow colour with a firm and quite stable white foam. Dusty, slightly citric and papery malty nose with a touch of grassy hops. Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium body, crispy mouthfeel. Yeasty and malty taste with a hoppy background, which is slightly grassy and herbal; bitter hoppy, slightly papery and a bit sticky finish. Drinkable but not particularly demanding Zwickel Pils.
