Apr 6, 2003 They called this "cheshire cat" and i sampled the 2000 version on draught...Sour hop garbage in the aroma with strong hints of licorice and more sourness..very strange sourness in the flavor with hints of rhubarb licorice cream and very subtle hints of hazelnut/cocoa powder and wood...not too thick..just kind of overly sour..subtle bitter finish also..

Apr 6, 2003 I had the 00 version. Looks like a copper pipe with a healthy amount of dirty head. Smells like black licorice. Weird ass taste. Sour, very sour, sour apple sour, even some rhubarb sour. Damn good though, very unique for a barleywine.

Feb 24, 2002 Thin-headed amber slightly darker than the El Toro. Some wood but dominant Play_doh in the nose, salty and doughy. Clean with some salt -- a problem. Not heavy but tones are low, very low.

Feb 9, 2002 Tasting Notes from Fall 2000: Alcohol there, almost tastes like they pumped up the Belgian. Basically, the ’Belgianness’ makes it unlike and barley wine I’ve ever tasted
