hopheaven (83), Eureka, California, USA Nov 9, 2009 Deliciously fruity, zesty aroma... Rounded brown malt background... Nothing too dark here, perhaps chocolate malt, lighter caramel... Very slight coffee aroma... Malts are very mellow and nutty and pleasant smelling... Malt flavor is similarly subdued... Yeast is faintly estery... Sweetness is appropriate and this is a dry-finishing, low-carbonated, thin yet quaffable ale. travita (1861), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 27, 2009 Bottle thanks to ericandernavy. The look is clear, reddish in color, with an off white head. The smell is malts, cardboard, caramel, and a little weird. The taste is off, malts, and not that great. Nik925 (300), California, USA Oct 21, 2009 Thinness...reminds of a dunkelwiezen . I know they would love a hemp reference in this one, but it just comes across as a dunkle. not bad, nor good. apparently I got a bottle before firestone bought them. Decent, but nothing special. ericandersnavy (1039), crossroads, Texas, USA Oct 20, 2009 bottle thanks to bhensonb. poured a ruby/brown with a beige head. aroma was caramel and dark fruit. flavor was chocolate grains and dark roast with a light body. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Oct 16, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a dark, clear, bold ruby-brownish color; yellow edges; light tan head with decent retention and patchy lacing. A pleasantly crisp aroma of sweet malts, red candied fruits, with hints of cola and brown sugar; coupled to a mineral / general hop bitterness; lightly sweet. Medium mouthfeel: lots of chewy, sweet malt sugar, juicy fruits, and cola notes; very lively presence in the mouth: crisp, solid acidity, perfect levels of carbonation; similarly presented to the Red Nectar from Nectar Ales, with more of a brown ale maltiness to it; very tasty beer overall. Medium finish; nicely toasted, lingering fruitiness and brown sugar; surprisingly dry and crisp end. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 2, 2009 bottle, thanks to ericandersnavy, almond brown with no foam, malty dark fruit aroma, flavor is sweet dry dark fruit and caramel BMan1113VR (2757), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Oct 2, 2009 Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours a deep amber with a tan head. Aroma of caramel and grain. Taste is lightly smokey, chewy with some caramel. Light bubbles. Snojerk321 (1917), San Diego, California, USA Oct 1, 2009 12oz bottle. Nice little head, suprising deep amber color (I was expecting something light) hops and spices in the aroma. I would say that you can’t taste the hemp on a very very light note, but for a lot of people that would just ’trip them out’. Bland, but it’s not bad, just an ordinary beer, but it has hemp in it.
