Commercial Description:
Affiliated with the Nectar Ales experience through shared origins at Humboldt Brewing Company, Hemp Ale is a one-of-a-kind brew that boasts an incredibly rich profile and unique herb-accented flavor that is attributable to the incorporation of hemp seeds into the brewing process. A wonderful brown ale full of complexity Hemp Ale is great with food or by itself. American hops create a perfect balance to the darker malts used in this brew. This brown ale is the Gold Medal winner for first place in its category at both the 1999 and 2000 California State Fair Craft Brewing Competitions. (Editor’s Note: originally brewed by the Humboldt Brewing Company until their acquisition by Firestone Walker)

Bottle: Dark brown color with a light brown head. Interesting aroma - even though it is light, I sense a bit of familiars qualities of a stout with sokme molasses and mocha. I don’t smell the Mary Jane though. Perhaps Tom Petty does. Anyway, the feel is quite thin and the flavor is basic. Thanks Cheech for sharing as well as Chong for chilling with us man.

Bottle. [Courtesy of Papsoe, yet another great tasting @ Henrik´s] Small beige fizzy head that mostly diminished. Clear brown color. Aroma of caramel, roasted malt, light floral notes. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor with light bitterness. Sweet roasted matly finish with an herbal twist at the very end. 18-09-2007

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear, dark, orangey brown with an off-white head. Roasted malt aroma with some vanilla. Medium-bodied, very soft mouthfeel and some spicy, lightly tobaccoish herbal accents. Almost no bitterness in the finish which is dry though. Nice but unspectacular. 180907

Brown color. Caramel aroma, light herbs. Thin body, caramel flavor, some residual sugars, light chocolate malt, but a rather unpleasant, even if light, herbal touch. Not my kind.

On tap. The flavor was really thin, it didn’t match the dark color at all. Aroma was barely there. Probably wouldnt drink again.
