I am assuming this is a bit old, but hey now, it sure is tasty. Nice aroma of bitter chocolate and roasted malts. Fairly flat pour, with a developing caramel colored head. Still some carbonation in the flavor. Lots of black patent malts and tasty chocolate. Some oaty velvet, but not much. Very tasty. They should make more of this. mjg74 (1997), La Mesa, California, USA

Alot of sweetness to it. Reminds me of Samuel Adams Cream Stout. I had this at a Halloween party and only had 5, because the hostess wanted 1. I have not seen this stuff since. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 19, 2003 Looks great with it thick chocolate mousse enduring foam. Roast aroma wth a strong fruitiness, a port like nose that's not always well done in this style. Sweet chocolate and charred roasty flavor. Bitter roastiness is noticeable throughout, finishing especially bitter. Great fruit complexity which, like I said in the aroma is often lacking in some microbrewed versions of this style. Nice complexity. beerguy101 (3901), Newark, California, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 25, 2002 Dark as hell,aroma was a strong coffee with a hint of cocoa,taste was the same with a lite feel to it,with a definate coffee aftertaste that last awhile a well done brew that lacks nothing. jazz88 (2237), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 17, 2002 Bottle. Black with a quickly diminishing brown head. A sweet roasted flavor and a coffee roasted aroma. Smooth and creamy. Much thicker and smoother than the El Toro Negro Oatmeal Stout I just had, but the aroma is not even close. The bitter sweet chocolate aftertaste is very nice.
