This is just an absolutly outstanding beer. Like a lighter colored Samichlaus with slightly less alcohol. The taste is very sweet, yet malty, and this beer is very highly recommended.

Very big thanks to jjpm74 for the bottle. Looks very, very good. The beer in the glass is very dark for a heller bock. Very alcoholic aroma. Starts very strong, breathtaking. Reminds me of choclate for a short moment, turns then fruity. The finish tastes like christmas herbs. An incredible good beer! Thanks for this experience, jjpm74!

Brown with translucent ruby highlights. Spindly head forms a thin halo of bubbles hugging the glass. Smell is very grainy(cereal-like) with malt and floral aromas. Underlying odor of alcohol. Oily mouthfeel starts with a mild licorice flavor that melds into a buttery pecan softness. Silky on the middle of the tongue, but dry towards the back. Finishes a little dry with a lingering sweetness. Mild peppermint aroma as this warms. Intricately crafted like a fine Swiss watch.

Big thanks to Matt7215 for sharing this 1997 vintage! Hazy amber-brown with an off-white head, some retention, good lacing (impressive for an 11 year old). Big boozy aroma with a little salt toffee. Boozy flavour that’s smooth, nice breadyness, brown sugar, toffee. Alcohol is certainly warming. It’s well-attenuated with some residual sweetness, though the alcohol leaves a drying finish. It’s very drinkable for its weight.

Thanks to Brewfiend for sharing. Pours a nice cloudy murky reddish brown hue. Very sweet honey-like nose with some toffee and a light spice character that I can’t place. Very sweet concentrated honey and toffee on the palate with a very light dose of astringent floral hops. Awesome beer with a dusty almost earthy character.

From a great trader. Cloudy brown body with faint head. Caramel nose with alcohol bite. Sour chocolate and yeast in the body.

A true heller bock. Wonderful golden straw color and white thick head. You can smell the malt right out of the bottle. Thick and chewy with great malt sweetness and underlying warming alcohol. A great winter warmer.

Cloudy, light pale amber color.Lots of yeast particulate suspended throughout the brew.No head of any kind.Quiet mild carbonation, just a trace detected in this brew.Malty sweet aroma,a few hints of fruit to it possibley prune maybe raisin.hard to put a finger on it but it has a slight sour fruit tone to it as well.Malty super sweet taste, dried fruit in there as well like the prunevery mild hop presence the alcohol makes a brief appearance at the back of the pallate but it stay's nicely hidden until the very end where you feel the warmth going down. The after taste is mildly malty, sweet and fruity with a mild alcohol hit.The feel is meium with a slightly syrupy feel to it.This is a delightful brew and also some what confusing as well it's not like any Dopplebock i've ever had but it is listed on the bottle as a Heller Bock and a Malt Liquor.I've had malt liquor before and this definately doesn't fit in that group but the heller Bock thats a new one for me.Anyhoo it's still a fine brew and well worth trying. Thanks to Jpdipso for this one.
