Pours an incredibly murky dark brown, with zero head. Only a few bubbles remain on top. Smells like someone is baking cookies. Molasses, allspice and cloves, with some chocolate and toffee, and cherry cordials. I honestly can’t believe this has 14% - I’d have guessed 7 or 8 - so unbelievably smooth. Like a candy in a glass. Truly like a fully mellowed version of the newer Samichlaus. Almost cloyingly sweet, and very, very thick. Coats your mouth completely. Totally crazy brew. tjthresh (1780), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 7, 2009 Pours murky brown with no head. Boat loads of dark fruits and a bit of oxidation. It reeks of toffee and some chocolate and all kinds of yummy stuff. Full and rich yummy robust candy bar flavors. But not sweet at all. Full body and still some nice carbonation. Really everything I’d hoped to get. This is probably the finest vintage beer I’ve had. kiwibt (51), , New Zealand

Dark brown/red with small head.
Aroma of alcohol,chocolate,xmas pudding.
Taste is syrupy, sweet chocolate, with pudding fruity malt with pronounced alcohol.
A bit of a beer experiance tasted a long time ago, a remember it being almost too sweet syrupy and the alcohol being pronounced( as you would expect), would of liked to have aged some to see how it changed over the years.
Would of been great to sip away next to winters fire.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 4, 2009 1993 Vintage. Holy moly! Pours a thick, chocolate milk brown with little or no head. It’s more like a syrup in appearance than it is a beer. Aroma is straight-up alcoholic dark fruit with chocolate coffee beans. Flavor is a rush of intense alcohol tapered by a sweet and bitter chocolate covered fruit presence. Hints of coffee and liquor settle in the finish. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel. Not so much a beer as it is an experience. And an experience I’d love to have again someday.
