Deep brown brew with no carbonation.Toffee, malt and caramel swirl on your tongue with only the slightest hints of alcohol warming your mouth. This is a beer that demands aging and pays off with an incredible drinking experience. DaSilky1 (1990), San Diego, California, USA

Very odd especially considering the store opened in 2000. But I am very lucky because this beer seemed to age well. Appearance is opague brown. Aroma is chocolate, raisins, and caramel. Creamy, sweet, and slightly syrupy. Chocolate, caramel, raisins, and toffee are abound. The alcohol is there but not overpowering especially for a 14% ABV beer. It has a really nice warming effect. An excellent beer for sipping on a cold day. Many thanks to Bov who pointed out that I had rated the incorrect version, I wouldn't have caught that otherwise. jgb9348 (2503), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA

Brown colour with strong ruby highlights and a very thin tan head. Super-strong alcoholic aroma with hints of grapes, malt and pit fruits. Tons of sweetness comes from the glass as well, representing caramel, dark fruit and caster sugar. Full-bodied; Strong malt flavour overridden by alcoholic tastes. Good dark pit fruit qualities come with the beer as the glass develops. Afteraste filled with the alcoholic tastes and with the malty goodness. Overall, a fairly good beer which was a treat to sample! I got this twelve ounce bottle in a trade with Suttree in Knoxville, Tennessee, Thanks Phil!~ bu11zeye (5510), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 28, 2003 1995 bottle: pours a dark reddish amber with a thin tan head. Smells very malty with a noticable alcohol aroma as well. Fruity, sometimes smoky flavor that is like nothing else. This thing tastes like a christmas dessert, sweet, spicy and with a touch of alcohol. Why in the hell did they stop making this one?
